Das Ende

Eine tolle Saison muß irgendwann auch einmal zuende sein. Einerseits freut man sich auf Zuhause andererseits will man die neu kennengelernten Personen und die Gegend nicht verlassen. Zum Abschluß sind wir zum Abendessen auf eine Hütte auf den Kitzbüheler Horn. Ich bin den Hinweg sogar zu Fuß hoch, nur zurück im Dunkeln habe ich mich chauffieren lassen.

Aperitif

Das war eine grandiose Saison. Ich hatte großes Glück mit meinem tollen Team-Kollegen und einer wunderschöne Landschaft.

Die Gäste waren auch super nett und lustig; ich hatte eine schöne Zeit mit ihnen verbracht. Wir sind zusammen gewandert, haben Ausflüge gemacht und ich habe es richtig genossen ihnen Getränke zuzubereiten. Es gab auch ein paar nette Partys.

The end

Ulli and Patricia

An awesome season has to come to an end at some time. On the one hand you are happy to come back home but on the other hand you are sad to leave because you don´t wanna leave your new people you met and the region you really like.

As a conclusion we went out for dinner with the whole team to a hut some way up the mountain the “Kitzbüheler Horn”. Even I walked all the way up just for the way back I choose to let somebody me drive back in the dark.

It was a fantastic finale with great people. This season was brilliant. I had so much luck with my colleagues – we were a super team – I reckon.

Also the guests were nice and happy, there were funny and I really liked it to serve them drinks. I made party with them and we went together on trips and of course did hiking together. Thanks to all!!!

Noch mehr Wanderungen

Natürlich habe ich noch mehr Wanderungen gemacht. In der ganzen Saison 13 an der Zahl. In den etwa fünfeinhalb Monaten bin ich mit der Anzahl zufrieden; wenn man bedenkt, dass ich ja auch 6 Tage die Woche arbeite und teils auch mal bis 4 h nachts.

Ich habe auch einige alleine gemacht, und auch mal mit der Reiseleitung Ulli als Guide oder mit meinen Kollegen oder meinen Besuchern.

Definitiv eine schöne Gegend für diese Aktivität. Auswahl an Wanderungen gibt es reichlich.

More hiking tours

Of course I did more hiking tours, in total 13 in the whole season. Within the 5.5 month I am quite okay with the number considering I also have to work six days a week sometimes even maybe till 4 am.

I did some tracks on my own, one with Ulli the other Rep as a guide and a few with colleagues and my guests.

Definitely it is a magnificent place for this activity. There are tons of hiking possibilities.

Mehr Besuch

Nach Sussi, bekam ich noch mehr Besuch, diesmal von Freundin Melanie, die ich schon vor etwa 12 Jahren beim Job kennengelernt habe.

Sie war recht lange da, also hatten wir viel Zeit für Sightseeing und Wanderungen, was ich noch nicht gesehen hatte bzw. welche ich noch nicht gemacht hatte.

Unsere erste sportliche Tätigkeit war gleich was nicht Alltägliches für mich. Noch nie gemacht vorher – immerhin schon in der Kletterhalle und im Hochseilgarten mit der Kletterausrüstung in Berührung gekommen – haben wir einen geführten Klettersteig gemacht, und zwar mit der gleichen Firma mit der ich auch Canyoning gemacht habe. Es wurde als Einsteigertour beschrieben, war aber nicht ohne. Wir waren etwa 14 Personen, die meisten davon Gäste von uns. Einige mußten da schon vom Guide per Hand geführt werden. Es war super und ich hätte noch gerne mehr davon gemacht.

Unsere nächste größere Aktion war uns Kuftstein anzuschauen, die kleine Grenzstadt hat eine Festung, die man besichtigen kann und eine winzige nette Innenstadt. Den halben Tag, den wir hatten, hat da vollkommen ausgereicht.

Zusammen sind wir auch zu den größten Wasserfällen Europas (385 m Fallhöhe) und zu den fünftgrößten der Welt - angeblich. War eine sehr schöne Wanderung; die 4 km hoch (ich frag mich immer noch, wie die Touristenmassen in Latschen, Flipflops und anderem nicht für diesen Aufstieg passenden Fußbekleidungen hier hochgekommen sind). Hier pilgern Busladungen voll den Wasserfall hoch. Schöne Gegend, enttäuschend für mich nur, dass es ein Wasserfall in vielen Stufen war, also für mich dadurch nicht der größte.

Welche Wanderung ich mir aufgehoben hatte, wenn Melanie kommt ist das „Kitzbühler Horn“ hoch oder wenigstens die Hällfte. Ich war bisher nur einmal mit Sussi und ihrer Mutter, da aber mit der Seilbahn oben. Sehr schöne Wanderung mit toller Aussicht.

Mit meinen Kolleginnen Patricia und Kim haben wir uns das kleine Kupferschaubergwerk im Nachbarort Jochberg angeschaut. Etwas kleines, was man mal zwischendurch machen kann, wenn man nichts besseres zu tun hat.

Mit den FROSCH-Gästen Robert und Jörn sind wir zu den Kristallwelten von Swarovski nach Wattens gefahren. Das ist eine verrückte Ausstellung beim Werk. Nicht alles hatte mit Kristall zu tun, aber es waren ein paar sehr lustige und interessante Stücke dabei. Im Anschluß sind wir noch kurz nach Innsbruck gucken gefahren. Leider hatten wir zu wenig Zeit, ich muß ja auch noch so etwas wie arbeiten. Trotzdem hab ich in der wenigen Zeit gemerkt, dass mir Salzburg besser gefallen hat.

Zum Abschluß habe ich dann eine weitere Canyoning-Tour mit Melanie unternommen, diesmal nannte sie sich „Swing“ und beinhaltete Abseilen (im Trockenen und im total Nassem), Flying Fox zu Zweit, ein kleiner Klettersteig und zum krönenden Abschluß die Swing, bei der man am Seil gebunden von einem Abgrund springt und dann schnell auf den Boden runtergelassen wird. Kostet schon ein wenig Überwindung. Ich kann auch nicht sagen, welche Tour besser war, beide haben mir richtig viel Spaß gemacht.

Da hab ich in der Zeit meines Besuches also mal richtig viel gemacht und erlebt. Melanie ist natürlich auch mal alleine mit der Wandertruppe mitgegangen und sie war auch Fliegen mit Kim. Da ich das schon gemacht hat ist sie alleine mit einem Gast zum Hochseilgarten nach St. Johann.

Das war ne super schöne Zeit.

One more visitor

After Sussi I have got another visitor, this time from my friend Melanie who I met about 12 ago at work.

She was there for quite a long time so we had enough time for sightseeing and hiking trips which I have not done. Our first sporty event we have done was something I have not done before. At least I used the climbing gear at the high rope course and at the indoor climbing wall. We went to a guided fixed rope route with the same company we did canyoning with. They said it was a beginner tour but really if you have never done something like this before and you are afraid of heights you will have some problems. We were about 14 people mostly our guests and there were some who had to be taken by hand. It was great and I wish I had done more of those trips.

Our next bigger event was going to the border town “Kufstein” by train. There is a fortress to visit and a tiny old town. This is mostly it and the half day we had was totally enough.

At another day we drove by car to the biggest waterfall in Europe and the fifth biggest in the world. It was a beautiful hiking trip 4 km up. I am still asking myself how the tourist crowds were able to walk at the partly steep trail with their ballerinas, flip flops and other none suitable footwear. Busloads of tourists pilgrimage up the waterfall. I was impressed by the stunning surrounding but not really from the waterfall because it was not one high fall it ran down in several steps. That is why for me it is not the highest fall then.

I waited with hiking up the mount “Kitzbühler Horn” or at least doing the half by foot until Melanie came. I was only once up there with Sussi and her mother but that time we went up by gondola. A very nice hiking trip with beautiful views.

With my colleagues Patricia and Kim we visit the small copper mine in the neighboring “Jochberg”. It was a little thing which you can do if you have nothing else to do.

With Robert and Jörn two of our guests we drove to the crystal world of Swarovski in Wattens. It is a crazy exhibition at the factory. Not only about crystals but there are some funny and interesting exhibits. Afterwards we stopped by in the capital of Tyrol in Innsbruck. Unfortunately we did not have much time. Sometime I had to work. However what I have seen in this short time I prefer Salzburg.

At the end Melanie and I also with guests we did a canyoning tour, this time it is called “Swing”. Included were abseiling (wet and dry), Flying Fox, a little fixed rope route and the highlight the swing. Here you are fixed at the rope and you jump from a wall while the guide is lowering you down. It takes a bit overcoming. I cannot really say which tour of the two is better, both were great fun.

I really did a lot during the visit. Melanie also went alone hiking with the guests and she was flying with Kim too. With another guest she went to the high rope course in St. Johann because I have already done it.

It was a really awesome time.

Canyoning

Etwas in der Richtung habe ich damals in Neuseeland gemacht. Das hat mir so einen Spaß gemacht, als Kollegin Patricia sagte, sie gehe Canyoning machen, hieß es nur „Ich will mit!“ Bei der „Fun Connection“ gibt es vier verschiedene Touren, diese beinhaltete das Abseilen – mal mit mal ohne Wasser – ein wenig klettern und das Runterrutschen kleiner Wasserfälle. Hat super viel Spaß gemacht. Es gibt auch noch eine ander Tour, die Patricia vorher gemacht hat, das war dann mit Springen aus teilweise über 10 Metern Höhe, da hört bei mir aber der Spaß auf. Diese Tour namens „Delphic“ - weil mit viel Wasser – haben wir zusammen mit unseren Gästen gemacht und war auch für Anfänger geeignet.

Canyoning

Something like this I did back then in New Zealand. It was so much fun and when my colleague Patricia mentioned she wanna do canyoning I just said: “Me too!!!”. The company “Fun Connection” has four different tours. This one included abseiling – with or without water -, a little bit of climbing and sliding down different waterfalls. It was awesome. This tour is called “Delphic” – because there is a lot of water. We did it with our guests. It is also suitable for beginners. There is another tour Patricia did before but this one includes jumping of the cliff of sometimes more than 10 meters. Definitely nothing for me.

Jeden Mittwoch habe ich und die Küche frei und die Gäste gehen auswärts essen, zum sogenannten Hüttenabend. Irgendwann hab ich es auch mal geschafft mitzugehen. Es gab typische Tiroler Gerichte – Tiroler Gröstl (Art Bratkartoffeln mit Rinfdfleisch) und Kasspatzen (Käsespätzle), dazu Brot mit Dip und Salat. Ich fands sehr lecker. Zur Bespaßung gabs Tiroler Musik (u. a. der typische Schuhplattler) mit Schauspiel. Viele Gäste waren davon nicht angetan, ich dachte, das ist doch mal passende Abwechslung, und wenn man schon in Tirol ist, sollte doch etwas traditionelles fast ein Muß sein.

What else...

Every Wednesday the kitchen staff and I have a day off. The guests are going out for dinner at this day. One day I made it and went with them. You get traditional Tyrolean food “Tiroler Gröstl” (kind of fried potatoes with pieces of beef) and “Kasspatzen” (boiling small lumps of dough made from flour and eggs mixed with cheese and roasted onions). You also get bread and dips and mixed salad. I thought it was really yammy and something different to the everyday four course meal. For entertainment the restaurant has a Tyrolean music and dance performance (of course the “Schuhplattler”). Some guests did not really like it but I thought it is a suitable variety. If you are in a new place it is a must do to see something traditional.
