Cruise in the mediterranean
AIDA Cruises ist eine Marke des britisch-amerikanischen Kreuzfahrtunternehmens Carnival Corporation & plc für den deutschsprachigen Markt. Als Logo dient ein „Kussmund“ mit Schriftzug AIDA aus Buchstaben in vier verschiedenen Farben. Eigentümer der Schiffe ist Costa Crociere, die Südeuropa-Tochter des Konzerns mit Sitz in Genua. Zur Zeit hat AIDA 12 Schiffe (das 13. ist in Bau) in fünf Größen.
Meine zweite Hochseekreuzfahrt, die ich einfach über dreamlines.de, meinen Arbeitgeber gebucht habe. Übers Internet habe ich mir eine Kabinenteilerin gesucht. Wir haben lange telefoniert und ich dachte, das könnte mit ihr klappen. Sie wohnt in NRW und hat auch schon bei Frosch Sportreisen, wo ich gearbeitet habe, mit Fremden ein Zimmer geteilt und auch eine Kabine auf einer Kreuzfahrt.

Hamburg als Flughafen war nicht mehr verfügbar; Düsseldorf passt aber auch. Wenn man schon mal in einer Stadt ist, wo man bisher vor einigen Jahren nur kurz war und auch noch mehr Urlaub hat dann schaue ich mich doch hier auch um. Ich habe mich zwei Nächte in einem recht zentral gelegenem und nettem Hostel eingenistet (Berolina Haus 17,50 €/Tag). Ich habe eine Hop-On-Hop-Off-Bustour gemacht und so recht viel von der Stadt gesehen. Die zweite Nacht war etwas kurz da unter meinem Fenster der Hostelmanager seinen Geburtstag feierte und ich eingeladen wurde mitzufeiern. Schon um kurz vor 6 ging mein Flug, beim Check-In traf ich dann zum ersten Mal auf meine Mitreisende. Sie war mir auf den ersten Blick direkt sympatisch und ich freute mich auf die Reise.
Die Kreuzfahrt startete in Palma de Mallorca und führte nach einem Seetag nach Ajaccio (Korsika), Civitaveccia (Italien), Livorno (Italien), dann dann nach einem weiteren Seetag bis nach Barcelona und zurück nach Mallorca. Insgesamt waren wir 7 Nächte auf der AIDA perla. Das Schiff ist das neueste der AIDA-Flotte; es hat im Juni 2017 seinen Dienst angetreten. Es ist knapp 300 m lang und etwa 38 m breit, hat 15 Passagier-Decks und Platz für maximal 3.286 Gäste. Die Crew besteht aus 900 Personen. Auf der perla befinden sich 12 Restaurants (5x Büfett und 2x Á la carte, eine Currywurst-Bude und einen Hot Dog-Stand, die im Preis enthalten sind) und 17 Bars & Clubs. Desweiteren gibt es ein eher kleines leider automatisiertes Casino ohne Croupier, ein paar Shops, ein Fitnessstudio wo auch Kurse angeboten werden, ein Spa gegen Aufpreis, ein FKK-Bereich, ein Kletterpark, ein Poollandschaft draussen und eine überdacht mit Wasserrutschen, ein Sportplatz, Kinder- und Jugend-Club und sogar eine Baby-Corner im Restaurant mit Baby- und Kleinkind-Nahrung, ein TV-Studio, ein offenes Theater, eine Kunstgalerie, ein Kochstudio by Tim Mälzer, eine Disco, ein Waschsalon sowie Obst und belegte Brötchen kostenfrei für Landausflüge. Hier wird viel geboten.
Tag 1: Mallorca, Spanien
Mallorca von lateinisch insula maior, später Maiorica – „die größere Insel“, ist eine zu Spanien gehörende Insel im westlichen Mittelmeer, etwa 170 Kilometer vom spanischen Festland bei Barcelona entfernt. Mallorca ist die größte Insel der Balearen-Gruppe. Auf Mallorca befindet sich die Hauptstadt der Balearischen Inseln, Palma (etwa 400.000 Einwohner). Amtssprachen sind Katalanisch und Spanisch. Darüber hinaus ist Mallorca (etwa 870.000 Einwohner) die siebtgrößte Mittelmeerinsel.
Mit Niki (damals noch nicht insolvent) flogen wir nach Palma, etwa um 9 h waren wir auf dem Schiff. Wir sind dann nach dem Frühstück in die Stadt, in die Kabinen kann man eigentlich erst am Nachmittag, aber unsere war schon fertig und wenigstens ein Koffer war schon vor der Kabine, natürlich nicht meiner. In nur etwa 10 Minuten waren wir an der Bushaltestelle außerhalb des Hafengebietes und dann ging es einfach und günstig zum anderen Ende der Innenstadt, dies dauerte knapp eine halbe Stunde. Am anderen Ende der Stadt näher am Hafen haben wir dann wieder einen Bus zurück genommen. Ich war 2004 einmal mit ner Freundin auf Mallorca und seitdem nicht mehr. Um 22 h legten wir dann ab. Palma ist ne nette Stadt; bei einem halbtägigen Bummel kann man auch einiges sehen.
Tag 2: Seetag
Nun hatte ich genug Zeit das Schiff zu erkunden. Ich fing ganz unten auf Deck 3 an und hab mich Deck für Deck hoch gearbeitet und jeden Winkel erkundigt. Am Ende des Tages war ich immer noch nicht ganz oben.
Tag 3: Ajaccio, Korsika, Frankreich
Korsika (korsisch Corsica, französisch Corse ; etwa 320.000 Einwohner) ist eine zum großen Teil aus einem Hochgebirge bestehende Insel im Mittelmeer und politisch eine Gebietskörperschaft Frankreichs mit Sonderstatus. Die höchste Erhebung ist der “Monte Cinto” (2.706 m). Die viertgrößte Mittelmeerinsel liegt westlich von Italien und südöstlich des französischen Festlandes. Die Hauptstadt ist Ajaccio mit knapp 70.000 Einwohner.
Um 8 h legten wir an und wir haben uns zunächst den Ort angesehen. Es war schnell erledigt; die Stadt ist nicht besonders groß. Ein netter kleiner Ort mit nem schönen Strand. Am Nachmittag hatten wir schon im Vorwege einen Ausflug gebucht “Die Landschaft Korsikas - nachmittags“ für 49,99 €. Es war auf jeden Fall schön, mehr von der Insel zu sehen, die Landschaft war spannend, da ein Hochgebirge auf einer Mittelmeerinsel nicht sehr typisch ist. Was für den Preis geboten wurde war nun nicht besonders viel. Wir sind etwa 3,5 Stunden mit dem Bus gefahren; durch das bergige Gelände haben wir nicht viele Kilometer zurück gelegt; wir haben nur 3 große Stopps gemacht. Um 20 h haben wir mit der perla wieder abgelegt.
Tag 4: Civitaveccia, Italien
Italien (amtlich Italienische Republik, 60 Mio. Einwohner) ist eine parlamentarische Republik in Südeuropa; seine Hauptstadt ist Rom. Der Staat grenzt an Frankreich, die Schweiz, Österreich und Slowenien. Die Kleinstaaten Vatikanstadt und San Marino sind vollständig vom italienischen Staatsgebiet umschlossen.
Civitavecchia (rund 50.000 Einwohner) liegt 69 km nordwestlich von Rom.
Der Staat Vatikanstadt (kurz auch Vatikan, Vatikanstadt oder Vatikanstaat genannt, ist der kleinste allgemein anerkannte Staat der Welt und der letzte Staat mit der Amtssprache Latein. Der Stadtstaat hat eine Fläche von 0,44 Quadratkilometern und ist mit rund 1000 Einwohnern auch der Staat mit den wenigsten Einwohnern.
Ankunft in Civitaveccia war wieder um 8 h. Nach dem Frühstück sind wir mit einem Shuttlebus in die Stadt und von dort mit dem öffentlichen Bus zum Bahnhof. In etwa einer Stunde waren wir dann in Rom. Wir haben gleich ein Tagesticket für die öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel in Rom gekauft, wir dürften da aber nicht den Schnellzug nehmen, daher hat es etwas gedauert bis wir dann endlich im Vatikan war. Um etwa 10 h began dann unser Sightseeingtrip. Wir haben auch die wichtigsten Sehenswürdigkeiten Roms gesehen, auch wenn nur von außen, aber ich habe einen guten Überblick von der Stadt bekommen. Auf dem Rückweg sind wir dann vom Bahnhof zu Fuß zum Hafen, da es auf dem Hinweg mit den Bussen ein wenig kreuz und quer durch die Stadt ging. Waren auch nur etwa 20 Minuten und wir konnten noch etwas von Civitaveccia sehen. Rom hat mir sehr gefallen. Das Schiff legte wieder um 20 h ab.
Tag 5: Livorno, Italien
Livorno ist die Hauptstadt der gleichnamigen italienischen Provinz in der Region Toskana. Die am Tyrrhenischen Meer gelegene Stadt hat etwa 160.000 Einwohner und besitzt einen der größten italienischen Häfen und liegt etwa 20 km südwestlich von Pisa.
Pisa (ca. 91.000 Einwohner) liegt in der Toskana am Arno. Wahrzeichen ist der als Schiefer Turm von Pisa bekannte Campanile des Doms.
Diesmal erreichten wir den Hafen von Livorno erst um 9 h. Da meine Mitreisende Pisa schon kannte bin ich diesmal alleine los. Zunächst mit dem Shuttlebus in die Stadt und anschließend mit der Bahn war ich in nur einer Viertelstunde in Pisa. Die Stadt ist klein genug um alles zu Fuß zu erreichen.
Der Baubeginn des schiefen Turms (55 m hoch und 12 m breit) war 1173 und wurde erst 1372 beendet wegen der zunehmenden Neigung. 1990 wurde der Turm für Besucher aus Sicherheitsgründen gesperrt. Nachdem er um 44 cm aufgerichtet wurde ist er seit 2001 wieder betretbar. Die Schieflage des Turms beträgt nach Ende der Sanierungsarbeiten rund vier Grad, entsprechend einer Auslenkung an der Spitze von 3,9 m (bei rund 55,8 m Höhe). Die Besteigung war ein Must do und gegen der Erwartung ewig zu warten, da das Gelände voller Touristen war, habe ich mir ein Ticket gekauft und konnte innerhalb weniger Minuten hoch. Bei der Besteigung hat man das Gefühl besoffen zu sein.
Pisa ist eine nette Stadt wo man gerne einen halben Tag verbringen kann. Im Anschluss habe ich mich auch noch kurz in Livorno umgesehen. Entgegen Vieler die sagen es sei eine häßliche Stadt konnte ich doch schöne Ecken entdecken. Um 20 h fuhren wir wieder zurück gen Spanien.
Tag 6: Seetag
Noch vor dem Frühstück musste ich - aus Recherchezwecken natürlich - auch das Spa testen :-). Wir haben im Vorfelde eine Massage gebucht, was man auch frühzeitig tun sollte, da die begehrten Termine an den Seetagen schnell ausgebucht sind. Gegönnt habe ich mir eine 30minütige “Pashima Abhyanga - Ayurvedische Rückenmassage“ für 39,20 €. Kann ich nur empfehlen.
Da an den Hafentagen nicht viel Zeit ist, habe ich nun den Rest des Schiffes erkundigt, den ich noch nicht gesehen habe. Das Schiff ist riesig es gibt viel zu entdecken.
Tag 7: Barcelona, Spanien
Barcelona (rund 1,6 Mio. Einwohner) ist die Hauptstadt Kataloniens und nach Madrid die zweitgrößte Stadt Spaniens.
Hier hatten wir den längsten Aufenthalt. Um 6 h kamen wir an. Nach dem Frühstück sind wir wieder getrennt in die Stadt, den ich kannte Barcelona noch nicht. Auch hier gab es ein Shuttlebus in die Stadt. Die Fahrt dauerte nur wenige Minuten. Ich habe mir eine Tageskarte für die Bahn besorgt und habe wieder alle wichtigen und berühmten Sehenswürdigkeiten gesehen. Barcelona ist eine sehr schöne Stadt, wo man auch gerne ein paar Tage verbringen kann. Um 20 h startete die Fahrt zurück in den Heimathafen.
Tag 8: Palma de Mallorca, Spanien
Ankunft war um 6 h und unser Flug ging um 09:10. Diesmal sind wir mit Eurowings geflogen. In Düsseldorf hatte ich noch ein paar Stunden Aufenthalt zur Sicherheit, falls der Flug Verspätung hatte. Am Abend war ich wieder in Hamburg.
Das Leben auf der AIDA perla
Außer der Massage und dem Ausflug habe ich den Klettergarten getestet, die Racer-Wasserrutsche, verschiedenen Pools, alle inklusiven Restaurants und dabei wichtig jeden Tag das Fitnessstudio für 40 - 60 Minuten sowie ein paar Fitnesskurse, die inklusive sind. Jeden Tag habe ich die Theater-Show gesehen, wobei ich davon nicht so hin und weg war. Es wurde entweder gesunden oder getanzt. Es gab eine neue Show mit Akrobatik sowie eine Kinder-Show, die gut gemacht war für die 900 Kinder, die an Bord war, welche man gar nicht so mitbekommen hat, da sich die Massen sehr verlaufen.
Das Essen und der Service in dem A-La-carte Restaurant CasaNova war nicht so berauschend, in allen anderen aber sehr gut. Mit dem Service muss man sehr viel Glück haben, denn nicht immer waren die Mitarbeiter freundlich und aufmerksam. Natürlich gab es viel Gedränge an den Buffet-Restaurants, da muss man dann durch. Was mir noch nicht so gut gefallen hat, war das an sonnigen Tagen man ganz schwer einen Platz auf einer Liege bekommen hat, teilweise bin ich mehrere Decks abgelaufen bis ich ganz oben mal einen Stuhl gefunden habe. Dafür das das Schiff nur wenige Monate alt war, war mir zu viel ausser Funktion, wie Pools, Klettergarten, Toiletten, Türöffner, ein Sky-Walk, die Glasbrücke ganz oben, Fahrstühle, Türen usw. Das war sehr schade. Trotzdem kann man wegen des guten Programms und die Auswahl an Essen das Schiff auf jeden Fall empfehlen, vor allen Dingen für die erste Kreuzfahrt kann man bei AIDA nicht viel falsch machen. Die Band und die Silent Party waren super, wo alle einen Kopfhörer bekommen und unter drei unterschiedlichen Kanälen verschiedene Musik, wie z. B. Dance, Schlager oder Oldies hören können. Sah sehr lustig aus.

This was my second deep sea cruise. On the internet I found somebody to share a cabin to keep the price low. We had some long talks over the phone. I had a good feeling with her. She lives a few hours away and has also experience with sharing rooms with strangers.

Airport Hamburg was not available so we booked from Dusseldorf which is about three hours by train. Since I am there and I had some more days off I have booked into a central located hostel (Berolina Haus 17.50 €/day) in the city for two nights as I have been in Dusseldorf a few years ago just for a short time. I did a Hop-On-Hop-Off-Bustour and so I have seen quite a bit from the city. The second night was a bit short the manager celebrated his birthday in the backyard under my window and I was invited. My flight was just before 6 am. At the check in counter I met my travel mate for the first time. She seems to be a likable person I was looking forward to go on holidays.
The cruise begun in Palma de Mallorca with stopps in Corsica, Italy and Spain with a cruising day in the beginning and at the end. In total we were away for seven nights on the ship called AIDA perla. This ship is the newest and largest of the fleet. It is from June 2017. It s almost 300 m long and 38 m wide. On 15 decks there is space for 3,286 passangers and there are 900 crew members. You have 12 restaurants (five buffets, two á la carte and one currywurst and hot dog stand which are all included in the price) and 17 bars and clubs serving food and beverages. Besides a small and unfortunately automatic casino without a croupier there are several shops; a fitness center where you can join fitness courses; a climbing park; some pools covered and outside with water slides; sports ground; a children and youth club; a TV studio; an open theater; an art gallery; a laundromat; a cookery studio; a nudism area above the sun deck and a spa for additional charge. There is a lot to do on this cruise ship.
Day 1: Mallorca, Spain
Majorca (870,000 inhabitans), also spelt Mallorca, is the largest island in the Balearic Islands, which are part of Spain and located in the Mediterranean. The capital of the island is Palma with 400,000 inhabitans. The Balearic Islands have been an autonomous region of Spain since 1983. Like the other Balearic Islands of Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera, the island is an extremely popular holiday destination, particularly for tourists from Germany and the United Kingdom. The name derives from Latin insula maior, "larger island"; later Maiorica, "the larger one" in comparison to Menorca, "the smaller one".
We flew at 9 am with Niki to Palma de Mallorca. Usually your cabin on the cruises ship is not ready before the afternoon but we were lucky and we could go in our cabin; even her luggage was there already. After breakfast we explored the city by bus. We walked outside the port in just 10 minutes and there was the local bus. We went through the city to the other end in about 30 minutes and made our way back. I was once in Palma in 2004 with a friend. The cruise ship left at 10 pm. It is a nice place to spent half a day.
Day 2: Cruising
Now I had enough time to explore the ship. I started in the very bottom on deck three. I made my way up and went to every corner. At the end of the day I haven´t even been on the sun deck.
Day 3: Ajaccio, Corsica, France
Corsica (French: Corse, around 320,000 inhabitants), is an island in the Mediterranean Sea. It is located southeast of the French mainland and west of the Italian Peninsula, with the nearest land mass being the Italian island of Sardinia. A single chain of mountains makes up two-thirds of the island. The highest peak is 2,706 m high. The capital is Ajaccio with a population of just 70,000.
We arrived at 8 am directly at the town which we had a look first. There is actually not much to see. It is located on a beautiful beach and has a small center. In the afternoon we booked a guided bus tour (49.99 €) to see more of the island. It was worth also there were not really intresting stops. I was surprised that the island is so mountainous which is unusual for an mediterranean island. We drove for 3.5 hours without covering a lot of kilometers. The embarkment was at 8 pm.
Day 4: Civitaveccia, Italy
Italy (Italia, officially the Italian Republic) is a unitary parliamentary republic in Europe. Located in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea, Italy shares open land borders with France, Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia, San Marino and Vatican City. With around 60 million inhabitants it is the fourth most populous EU member state.
Civitavecchia is a town and commune of the Metropolitan City of Rome. It is located 69 kilometres of Rome. The name Civitavecchia means "ancient town". Population is around 50,000.
Vatican City (officially Vatican City State or State of Vatican City) is a country located within the city of Rome. With an area of 44 hectares (110 acres), and a population of about 1,000, it is the smallest state in the world by both area and population.
The debarkation was again at 8 am. After breakfast my cabin mate and me took a shuttle bus to the town and there we took the train to Vatican City and Rome. It took us one hour. We arrived at around 10 am. We saw all important sights and got a good overview of the beautiful city of Rome. On our way back we walked from the train station in Civitaveccia to the ship it took us just about 20 minutes. So we got a little look of this town. Again we left at 8 pm.
Day 5: Livorno, Italy
Livorno is a port city on the western coast of Tuscany, Italy. It is the capital of the Province of Livorno, having a population of about 160,000 residents. One of the largest port town is located just 20 km from famous Pisa.
Pisa (about 91,000 inhabintans) is located at the river Arno. Pisa is known worldwide for its leaning tower (the bell tower of the city's cathedral).
This day we disembark at 9 am. Because my fellow traveller has already been to Pisa so she stayed in Livorno and I went on my own by train to Pisa. It took only a quarter of an hour. The city is small enough to investigate by foot.
The start of construction of the leaning tower was 1173 and was not fully finished before 1372. The tower is 55 m high and 12 m wide. In 1990 the tower was closed for safety reasons. The tower was straighten up for 44 cm and reopened in 2001. The tower now leans at about 4 degrees. This means the top of the tower is displaced horizontally 3.9 metres (12 ft 10 in) from the centre. The ascent is a must do and against my expectations I got a time slot right away. When you go up you have a feeling of beeing drunk. Pisa is a small pretty town where you can easily spend a half day. Afterwards I spent a little bit of time in Livorno. Lot of people say it is an ugly industrial city but you find some really nice spots. At 8 pm we cruised back towards Spain.
Day 6: Cruising
Even before breakfast I tried a massage of course because of research purposes :-). I got a 30 minutes aryuvedic massage (39.20 €). I can really recommended it. As there was not much time because you are most of the time onshore I explored the rest of the ship I have not seen yet.
Day 7: Barcelona, Spain
Barcelona (Population of 1.6 m) is the capital and largest city of Catalonia, and the second most populous municipality of Spain.
In Barcelona we had the longest stay. At 6 am we arrived at the port. I went to the city by myself as it was the first time that I was there. There is a shuttle bus to the edge of the center. In a few minutes I started the big exploration. I bought a day pass for the public transport. I visted pretty much all important sights. Barcelona is a beautiful city where you can spent easily a few days. We disembark at 8 pm back to the starting point of the journey.
Day 8: Palma de Mallorca, Spain
Arrival time was at 6 am. Our plane left at 9.10 am. This time we flew with another airline with Eurowings. In Dusseldorf I had a few hours to spare just to be save. In the evening I was back home.
Life on the AIDA perla
Besides the massage and the shore excursion I tried the climbing park; the water slide; all included restaurants and I used pretty much every day the fitness studio for 40 till 60 minutes and a also few courses. Every day I have seen the theater show which did not satisfied me all the time. It was mostly dancing and/or singing. There was one show with acrobatics and one kids show which was well done for the 900 kids on board. You actually do not realise that there are so many.
The food and service in one of the á la carte restaurant the “Casanova” was not excellent but at the other buffet-restaurants it was mostly very good. You have to be a bit lucky to get good servers and bartenders. Of course the buffets were mostly crowded but be patient there is enough for everyone. What I did not like that much is that at sunny days you have big troubles to find an empty deck chair or lounger outside. I had to go everywhere to find a single chair. The ship was only a few month old but already to much was temporarily out of order or broken like lifts; pools, the climbing park, doors, toilets, one sky walk and so on. That was very pity. Anyhow I can recommend the shipping company because of all the things which are provided and the stuff you can do and the huge variety of food. The band and the silent party where awesome. Everybody gets a headphone and can choose between three different music chanels like dance, folk and oldies. It was soo funny. For the very first cruise you cannot do anything wrong with AIDA.

Desweiteren gibt es ein eher kleines leider automatisiertes Casino ohne Croupier, ein paar Shops, ein Fitnessstudio wo auch Kurse angeboten werden, ein Spa gegen Aufpreis, ein FKK-Bereich, ein Kletterpark, ein Poollandschaft draussen und eine überdacht mit Wasserrutschen, ein Sportplatz, Kinder- und Jugend-Club und sogar eine Baby-Corner im Restaurant mit Baby- und Kleinkind-Nahrung, ein TV-Studio, ein offenes Theater, eine Kunstgalerie, ein Kochstudio by Tim Mälzer, eine Disco, ein Waschsalon sowie Obst und belegte Brötchen kostenfrei für Landausflüge. Hier wird viel geboten.
Tag 1: Mallorca, Spanien
Mallorca von lateinisch insula maior, später Maiorica – „die größere Insel“, ist eine zu Spanien gehörende Insel im westlichen Mittelmeer, etwa 170 Kilometer vom spanischen Festland bei Barcelona entfernt. Mallorca ist die größte Insel der Balearen-Gruppe. Auf Mallorca befindet sich die Hauptstadt der Balearischen Inseln, Palma (etwa 400.000 Einwohner). Amtssprachen sind Katalanisch und Spanisch. Darüber hinaus ist Mallorca (etwa 870.000 Einwohner) die siebtgrößte Mittelmeerinsel.
Mit Niki (damals noch nicht insolvent) flogen wir nach Palma, etwa um 9 h waren wir auf dem Schiff. Wir sind dann nach dem Frühstück in die Stadt, in die Kabinen kann man eigentlich erst am Nachmittag, aber unsere war schon fertig und wenigstens ein Koffer war schon vor der Kabine, natürlich nicht meiner. In nur etwa 10 Minuten waren wir an der Bushaltestelle außerhalb des Hafengebietes und dann ging es einfach und günstig zum anderen Ende der Innenstadt, dies dauerte knapp eine halbe Stunde. Am anderen Ende der Stadt näher am Hafen haben wir dann wieder einen Bus zurück genommen. Ich war 2004 einmal mit ner Freundin auf Mallorca und seitdem nicht mehr. Um 22 h legten wir dann ab. Palma ist ne nette Stadt; bei einem halbtägigen Bummel kann man auch einiges sehen.
Tag 2: Seetag
Nun hatte ich genug Zeit das Schiff zu erkunden. Ich fing ganz unten auf Deck 3 an und hab mich Deck für Deck hoch gearbeitet und jeden Winkel erkundigt. Am Ende des Tages war ich immer noch nicht ganz oben.
Tag 3: Ajaccio, Korsika, Frankreich
Korsika (korsisch Corsica, französisch Corse ; etwa 320.000 Einwohner) ist eine zum großen Teil aus einem Hochgebirge bestehende Insel im Mittelmeer und politisch eine Gebietskörperschaft Frankreichs mit Sonderstatus. Die höchste Erhebung ist der “Monte Cinto” (2.706 m). Die viertgrößte Mittelmeerinsel liegt westlich von Italien und südöstlich des französischen Festlandes. Die Hauptstadt ist Ajaccio mit knapp 70.000 Einwohner.

Tag 4: Civitaveccia, Italien
Italien (amtlich Italienische Republik, 60 Mio. Einwohner) ist eine parlamentarische Republik in Südeuropa; seine Hauptstadt ist Rom. Der Staat grenzt an Frankreich, die Schweiz, Österreich und Slowenien. Die Kleinstaaten Vatikanstadt und San Marino sind vollständig vom italienischen Staatsgebiet umschlossen.
Civitavecchia (rund 50.000 Einwohner) liegt 69 km nordwestlich von Rom.
Der Staat Vatikanstadt (kurz auch Vatikan, Vatikanstadt oder Vatikanstaat genannt, ist der kleinste allgemein anerkannte Staat der Welt und der letzte Staat mit der Amtssprache Latein. Der Stadtstaat hat eine Fläche von 0,44 Quadratkilometern und ist mit rund 1000 Einwohnern auch der Staat mit den wenigsten Einwohnern.
Ankunft in Civitaveccia war wieder um 8 h. Nach dem Frühstück sind wir mit einem Shuttlebus in die Stadt und von dort mit dem öffentlichen Bus zum Bahnhof. In etwa einer Stunde waren wir dann in Rom. Wir haben gleich ein Tagesticket für die öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel in Rom gekauft, wir dürften da aber nicht den Schnellzug nehmen, daher hat es etwas gedauert bis wir dann endlich im Vatikan war. Um etwa 10 h began dann unser Sightseeingtrip. Wir haben auch die wichtigsten Sehenswürdigkeiten Roms gesehen, auch wenn nur von außen, aber ich habe einen guten Überblick von der Stadt bekommen. Auf dem Rückweg sind wir dann vom Bahnhof zu Fuß zum Hafen, da es auf dem Hinweg mit den Bussen ein wenig kreuz und quer durch die Stadt ging. Waren auch nur etwa 20 Minuten und wir konnten noch etwas von Civitaveccia sehen. Rom hat mir sehr gefallen. Das Schiff legte wieder um 20 h ab.
Tag 5: Livorno, Italien
Livorno ist die Hauptstadt der gleichnamigen italienischen Provinz in der Region Toskana. Die am Tyrrhenischen Meer gelegene Stadt hat etwa 160.000 Einwohner und besitzt einen der größten italienischen Häfen und liegt etwa 20 km südwestlich von Pisa.
Pisa (ca. 91.000 Einwohner) liegt in der Toskana am Arno. Wahrzeichen ist der als Schiefer Turm von Pisa bekannte Campanile des Doms.
Diesmal erreichten wir den Hafen von Livorno erst um 9 h. Da meine Mitreisende Pisa schon kannte bin ich diesmal alleine los. Zunächst mit dem Shuttlebus in die Stadt und anschließend mit der Bahn war ich in nur einer Viertelstunde in Pisa. Die Stadt ist klein genug um alles zu Fuß zu erreichen.
Der Baubeginn des schiefen Turms (55 m hoch und 12 m breit) war 1173 und wurde erst 1372 beendet wegen der zunehmenden Neigung. 1990 wurde der Turm für Besucher aus Sicherheitsgründen gesperrt. Nachdem er um 44 cm aufgerichtet wurde ist er seit 2001 wieder betretbar. Die Schieflage des Turms beträgt nach Ende der Sanierungsarbeiten rund vier Grad, entsprechend einer Auslenkung an der Spitze von 3,9 m (bei rund 55,8 m Höhe). Die Besteigung war ein Must do und gegen der Erwartung ewig zu warten, da das Gelände voller Touristen war, habe ich mir ein Ticket gekauft und konnte innerhalb weniger Minuten hoch. Bei der Besteigung hat man das Gefühl besoffen zu sein.
Pisa ist eine nette Stadt wo man gerne einen halben Tag verbringen kann. Im Anschluss habe ich mich auch noch kurz in Livorno umgesehen. Entgegen Vieler die sagen es sei eine häßliche Stadt konnte ich doch schöne Ecken entdecken. Um 20 h fuhren wir wieder zurück gen Spanien.
Tag 6: Seetag
Noch vor dem Frühstück musste ich - aus Recherchezwecken natürlich - auch das Spa testen :-). Wir haben im Vorfelde eine Massage gebucht, was man auch frühzeitig tun sollte, da die begehrten Termine an den Seetagen schnell ausgebucht sind. Gegönnt habe ich mir eine 30minütige “Pashima Abhyanga - Ayurvedische Rückenmassage“ für 39,20 €. Kann ich nur empfehlen.
Da an den Hafentagen nicht viel Zeit ist, habe ich nun den Rest des Schiffes erkundigt, den ich noch nicht gesehen habe. Das Schiff ist riesig es gibt viel zu entdecken.
Tag 7: Barcelona, Spanien
Barcelona (rund 1,6 Mio. Einwohner) ist die Hauptstadt Kataloniens und nach Madrid die zweitgrößte Stadt Spaniens.
Hier hatten wir den längsten Aufenthalt. Um 6 h kamen wir an. Nach dem Frühstück sind wir wieder getrennt in die Stadt, den ich kannte Barcelona noch nicht. Auch hier gab es ein Shuttlebus in die Stadt. Die Fahrt dauerte nur wenige Minuten. Ich habe mir eine Tageskarte für die Bahn besorgt und habe wieder alle wichtigen und berühmten Sehenswürdigkeiten gesehen. Barcelona ist eine sehr schöne Stadt, wo man auch gerne ein paar Tage verbringen kann. Um 20 h startete die Fahrt zurück in den Heimathafen.
Tag 8: Palma de Mallorca, Spanien
Ankunft war um 6 h und unser Flug ging um 09:10. Diesmal sind wir mit Eurowings geflogen. In Düsseldorf hatte ich noch ein paar Stunden Aufenthalt zur Sicherheit, falls der Flug Verspätung hatte. Am Abend war ich wieder in Hamburg.
Das Leben auf der AIDA perla
Außer der Massage und dem Ausflug habe ich den Klettergarten getestet, die Racer-Wasserrutsche, verschiedenen Pools, alle inklusiven Restaurants und dabei wichtig jeden Tag das Fitnessstudio für 40 - 60 Minuten sowie ein paar Fitnesskurse, die inklusive sind. Jeden Tag habe ich die Theater-Show gesehen, wobei ich davon nicht so hin und weg war. Es wurde entweder gesunden oder getanzt. Es gab eine neue Show mit Akrobatik sowie eine Kinder-Show, die gut gemacht war für die 900 Kinder, die an Bord war, welche man gar nicht so mitbekommen hat, da sich die Massen sehr verlaufen.
Das Essen und der Service in dem A-La-carte Restaurant CasaNova war nicht so berauschend, in allen anderen aber sehr gut. Mit dem Service muss man sehr viel Glück haben, denn nicht immer waren die Mitarbeiter freundlich und aufmerksam. Natürlich gab es viel Gedränge an den Buffet-Restaurants, da muss man dann durch. Was mir noch nicht so gut gefallen hat, war das an sonnigen Tagen man ganz schwer einen Platz auf einer Liege bekommen hat, teilweise bin ich mehrere Decks abgelaufen bis ich ganz oben mal einen Stuhl gefunden habe. Dafür das das Schiff nur wenige Monate alt war, war mir zu viel ausser Funktion, wie Pools, Klettergarten, Toiletten, Türöffner, ein Sky-Walk, die Glasbrücke ganz oben, Fahrstühle, Türen usw. Das war sehr schade. Trotzdem kann man wegen des guten Programms und die Auswahl an Essen das Schiff auf jeden Fall empfehlen, vor allen Dingen für die erste Kreuzfahrt kann man bei AIDA nicht viel falsch machen. Die Band und die Silent Party waren super, wo alle einen Kopfhörer bekommen und unter drei unterschiedlichen Kanälen verschiedene Musik, wie z. B. Dance, Schlager oder Oldies hören können. Sah sehr lustig aus.

AIDA Cruises is an American/British owned German cruise line. AIDA Cruises is now one of ten brands owned by Carnival Corp, based at Miami, Florida. They own 12 ships in five sizes, the next one is under unstruction.
This was my second deep sea cruise. On the internet I found somebody to share a cabin to keep the price low. We had some long talks over the phone. I had a good feeling with her. She lives a few hours away and has also experience with sharing rooms with strangers.

Airport Hamburg was not available so we booked from Dusseldorf which is about three hours by train. Since I am there and I had some more days off I have booked into a central located hostel (Berolina Haus 17.50 €/day) in the city for two nights as I have been in Dusseldorf a few years ago just for a short time. I did a Hop-On-Hop-Off-Bustour and so I have seen quite a bit from the city. The second night was a bit short the manager celebrated his birthday in the backyard under my window and I was invited. My flight was just before 6 am. At the check in counter I met my travel mate for the first time. She seems to be a likable person I was looking forward to go on holidays.

Day 1: Mallorca, Spain
Majorca (870,000 inhabitans), also spelt Mallorca, is the largest island in the Balearic Islands, which are part of Spain and located in the Mediterranean. The capital of the island is Palma with 400,000 inhabitans. The Balearic Islands have been an autonomous region of Spain since 1983. Like the other Balearic Islands of Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera, the island is an extremely popular holiday destination, particularly for tourists from Germany and the United Kingdom. The name derives from Latin insula maior, "larger island"; later Maiorica, "the larger one" in comparison to Menorca, "the smaller one".
We flew at 9 am with Niki to Palma de Mallorca. Usually your cabin on the cruises ship is not ready before the afternoon but we were lucky and we could go in our cabin; even her luggage was there already. After breakfast we explored the city by bus. We walked outside the port in just 10 minutes and there was the local bus. We went through the city to the other end in about 30 minutes and made our way back. I was once in Palma in 2004 with a friend. The cruise ship left at 10 pm. It is a nice place to spent half a day.
Day 2: Cruising
Now I had enough time to explore the ship. I started in the very bottom on deck three. I made my way up and went to every corner. At the end of the day I haven´t even been on the sun deck.
Day 3: Ajaccio, Corsica, France
Corsica (French: Corse, around 320,000 inhabitants), is an island in the Mediterranean Sea. It is located southeast of the French mainland and west of the Italian Peninsula, with the nearest land mass being the Italian island of Sardinia. A single chain of mountains makes up two-thirds of the island. The highest peak is 2,706 m high. The capital is Ajaccio with a population of just 70,000.
We arrived at 8 am directly at the town which we had a look first. There is actually not much to see. It is located on a beautiful beach and has a small center. In the afternoon we booked a guided bus tour (49.99 €) to see more of the island. It was worth also there were not really intresting stops. I was surprised that the island is so mountainous which is unusual for an mediterranean island. We drove for 3.5 hours without covering a lot of kilometers. The embarkment was at 8 pm.
Day 4: Civitaveccia, Italy
Italy (Italia, officially the Italian Republic) is a unitary parliamentary republic in Europe. Located in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea, Italy shares open land borders with France, Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia, San Marino and Vatican City. With around 60 million inhabitants it is the fourth most populous EU member state.
Civitavecchia is a town and commune of the Metropolitan City of Rome. It is located 69 kilometres of Rome. The name Civitavecchia means "ancient town". Population is around 50,000.
Vatican City (officially Vatican City State or State of Vatican City) is a country located within the city of Rome. With an area of 44 hectares (110 acres), and a population of about 1,000, it is the smallest state in the world by both area and population.

The debarkation was again at 8 am. After breakfast my cabin mate and me took a shuttle bus to the town and there we took the train to Vatican City and Rome. It took us one hour. We arrived at around 10 am. We saw all important sights and got a good overview of the beautiful city of Rome. On our way back we walked from the train station in Civitaveccia to the ship it took us just about 20 minutes. So we got a little look of this town. Again we left at 8 pm.
Day 5: Livorno, Italy
Livorno is a port city on the western coast of Tuscany, Italy. It is the capital of the Province of Livorno, having a population of about 160,000 residents. One of the largest port town is located just 20 km from famous Pisa.
Pisa (about 91,000 inhabintans) is located at the river Arno. Pisa is known worldwide for its leaning tower (the bell tower of the city's cathedral).
This day we disembark at 9 am. Because my fellow traveller has already been to Pisa so she stayed in Livorno and I went on my own by train to Pisa. It took only a quarter of an hour. The city is small enough to investigate by foot.
The start of construction of the leaning tower was 1173 and was not fully finished before 1372. The tower is 55 m high and 12 m wide. In 1990 the tower was closed for safety reasons. The tower was straighten up for 44 cm and reopened in 2001. The tower now leans at about 4 degrees. This means the top of the tower is displaced horizontally 3.9 metres (12 ft 10 in) from the centre. The ascent is a must do and against my expectations I got a time slot right away. When you go up you have a feeling of beeing drunk. Pisa is a small pretty town where you can easily spend a half day. Afterwards I spent a little bit of time in Livorno. Lot of people say it is an ugly industrial city but you find some really nice spots. At 8 pm we cruised back towards Spain.
Day 6: Cruising
Even before breakfast I tried a massage of course because of research purposes :-). I got a 30 minutes aryuvedic massage (39.20 €). I can really recommended it. As there was not much time because you are most of the time onshore I explored the rest of the ship I have not seen yet.
Day 7: Barcelona, Spain
Barcelona (Population of 1.6 m) is the capital and largest city of Catalonia, and the second most populous municipality of Spain.
In Barcelona we had the longest stay. At 6 am we arrived at the port. I went to the city by myself as it was the first time that I was there. There is a shuttle bus to the edge of the center. In a few minutes I started the big exploration. I bought a day pass for the public transport. I visted pretty much all important sights. Barcelona is a beautiful city where you can spent easily a few days. We disembark at 8 pm back to the starting point of the journey.
Day 8: Palma de Mallorca, Spain
Arrival time was at 6 am. Our plane left at 9.10 am. This time we flew with another airline with Eurowings. In Dusseldorf I had a few hours to spare just to be save. In the evening I was back home.
Life on the AIDA perla
Besides the massage and the shore excursion I tried the climbing park; the water slide; all included restaurants and I used pretty much every day the fitness studio for 40 till 60 minutes and a also few courses. Every day I have seen the theater show which did not satisfied me all the time. It was mostly dancing and/or singing. There was one show with acrobatics and one kids show which was well done for the 900 kids on board. You actually do not realise that there are so many.
The food and service in one of the á la carte restaurant the “Casanova” was not excellent but at the other buffet-restaurants it was mostly very good. You have to be a bit lucky to get good servers and bartenders. Of course the buffets were mostly crowded but be patient there is enough for everyone. What I did not like that much is that at sunny days you have big troubles to find an empty deck chair or lounger outside. I had to go everywhere to find a single chair. The ship was only a few month old but already to much was temporarily out of order or broken like lifts; pools, the climbing park, doors, toilets, one sky walk and so on. That was very pity. Anyhow I can recommend the shipping company because of all the things which are provided and the stuff you can do and the huge variety of food. The band and the silent party where awesome. Everybody gets a headphone and can choose between three different music chanels like dance, folk and oldies. It was soo funny. For the very first cruise you cannot do anything wrong with AIDA.
