Ausflüge mit meinem neuem Wagen

Trip 1: Hinton

Da ich nun ein Auto habe, ist es nun an der Zeit einige Ecken des riesigen Jasper National Parks und die weitere Umgebung zu erkunden.

Als erstes bin ich mit einer Kollegen (Jardena aus Belgien) nach Hinton, der Ort liegt etwa 80 km nordöstlich von Jasper und hat etwas mehr als doppelt so viele Einwohner. Es gibt wenig spannendes, weshalb man unbedingt nach Hinton müßte, außer Walmart, den großen und somit viel günstigeren Supermarkt, sowie wenige Klamottenläden und einen sehr gut sortierten Dollar-Shop. Viele aus Jasper fahren hier zum Einkaufen hin. Ich hab mich vorher ein wenig informiert und ein paar Stellen zum Anhalten gefunden und es gibt einige Wanderungen im Ort, was wir erst dort festgestellt haben.

Wir haben nicht alles geschafft, was wir wollten, da wir doch zu lange zum Einkaufen gebraucht haben.

Trip 2: Maligne Lake

Mit einer anderen Kollegin (Katrin aus Stuttgart) fuhr ich zu einer Must-Do-Sehenswürdigkeit. Der See liegt 44 km südöstlich von Jasper – aber immernoch im Jasper Nationalpark.

Der See hat eine Oberfläche von knapp 20 km². Er wird mit Gletscherwasser gespeist und seine Temperatur steigt somit nie über 4 °C. Es gibt ein paar nette kurze und längere Wanderungen. Da der See höher liegt, liegt dort schon überall Schnee, wir haben uns daher für eine kurze Wanderung entschieden. Ein netter Ort in wunderschöner Landschaft.

Auf dem Rückweg noch ein kurzer Halt bei den Seen Patricia Lake und Lake Annette. In Jasper gibt es etliche Seen, die ich bisher noch nicht gesehen hatte.

Trip 3: Maligne Canyon

Diesmal fuhr ich mit Katrin und Jardena. Der Canyon ist nur etwa 15 Minuten von Jasper entfernt. Er ist bis zu 50 m tief und an enigen Stellen nur 2 m breit.

Es gibt einige Wanderwege enlang des Canyons. Wunderschöner Ort. Am Schluß habe ich mir noch zwei weitere Seen in Jasper angesehen, Pyramid and Patricia Lake.

Trips with my car

Trip 1: Hinton

Since I have a car it was about time to see more of Jasper National Park and further surroundings. First I took my coworker (Jardena from Belgium) to Hinton. The town is located about 80 km northeast of Jasper. It has a bit than double the population. There is not much to see or to do except Walmart, a few clothing shops and a Dollar-Shop. Many from Jasper are driving there for shopping. I checked out the road and found a few stops on the way. There are also quite many walking trails which we just found out, when we were there. We didn´t do everything what we wanted to because we spend too much time shopping for clothes and food. J

Trip 2: Maligne Lake

With another coworker (Katrin from Germany) I drove to a must-do sight. The lake is located 44 km southeast of Jasper – but still in Jasper National Park.

The lake has a surface of 20 km². Because the water comes from the glaciers the water temperature never rises over 4 degrees Celsius. There are a few nice walks and longer hikes. The lake sits higher so snow was everywhere already. We decided to take a short walk. It is a beautiful place with a gorgeous landscape.

On our way back we stopped quickly at Lake Patricia and Lake Annette. There are many lakes around Jasper which I haven´t seen.

Trip 3: Maligne Canyon

This time I went with Katrin and Jardena. The canyon is only about 15 minutes away from town. It is up to 50 m deep and at the width is 2 m across at some points. There are walking trails along the canyon. What a beautiful place. At the end we visited two more lakes in Jasper, Pyramid and Patricia Lake.
