My first paid job in Canada

Jasper, Alberta

Jasper liegt nahe der Grenze zwischen den Provinzen British Columbia und Alberta. Jasper ist 290 km von Banff (Alberta), 362 km von Edmonton (Alberta), 414 km von Calgary (Alberta) und 863 km von Vancouver (British Columbia) entfernt. Sie hat eine Einwohnerzahl von 3560 (Stand: 2011).
Der Ort wurde nach Jasper Hawes benannt. Er war Betreiber eines Handelsposten von 1814 bis 1817. Die Gemeinde Jasper ist insofern einzigartig als sie komplett innerhalb eines Nationalparks liegt.

Ich arbeite nun bis Saisonende (25. Oktober) im Alpine Village Jasper. Die Unterkunft mit 52 Häusern in unterschiedlichen  Größen befindet sich etwa 2 km von Jasper. Meine Aufgabe und die der 15 anderen Zimmermädchen sind die Betten zu machen und die Hütten zu reinigen. Ich arbeite 5 Tage die Woche (jede Woche unterschiedlich) 7 Stunden täglich von 9 bis 16 h mit einer halben Stunde Pause. 

Ich habe noch nicht so viel erlebt und gesehen. Ich war mit Kollegen wandern etwa eine Stunde außerhalb des Ortes und ein wenig alleine hier im Ort. Ich bin ein wenig durch die Läden getingelt, war mit Kollegen in Bars zum Billard spielen und abends Essen. Mal schauen, was noch kommt.

Jasper is a specialized municipality in western Alberta, Canada. It is located in the Canadian Rockies in the Athabasca River valley. Jasper is approximately 362 kilometers (225 mi) west of Edmonton and 290 kilometres (180 mi) north of Banff, Alberta. It has a population of 3560 (2011).
The town was named after Jasper Haws a clerk at a Hudson Bay Company post. Jasper is unique because of its location inside a National Park.

I am working now at Alpine Village Jasper. The accommodation has 52 cabins in different styles and sizes. It is located 2 km out of town. My task with the other 15 housekeepers is to make the beds and clean the cabins. I am working 5 days a week for 7 hours from 9 am to 4 pm with a break of 30 minutes.

Until now I haven´t done much. I went hiking with colleagues about one hour from Jasper and alone around town. I checked out some shops, went with colleagues to bars and played pool and went out for dinner. Will see what else I might do.
