Prince George ist eine Stadt in der kanadischen Provinz British Columbia (BC). Sie ist die größte Stadt und selbsternannte Hauptstadt von Nord-BC und hat rund 72.000 Einwohner. Die Stadt wurde nach König George III benannt.

Im einzigen Hostel der Stadt hab ich ein Bett in einem Zweibett-Zimmer für $ 31 (€ 22) bekommen. Ein nettes kleines Hostel in einer netten Stadt. Ein bißchen Kunstgallerie, durch die Stadt laufen, ein wenig wandern am Fluß, geocaching, das übliche also. Die Stadt hat mir gefallen, obwohl es nicht viel besonderes gibt. Ich habe mir erstmal eine kanadische Telefonnummer besorgt, das hat schon ewig gedauert. Außerdem habe ich mir eine Sozialversicherungsnummer besorgt, damit ich einen bezahlten Job annehmen kann. Das ging ganz fix, nur Visum und Ausweis vorzeigen und schwubst du bekommst ne Nummer.

In Prince George bin ich nur eine Nacht geblieben, da ich am nächsten Tag nach Valemount wollte, wo ich wieder über helpx für Essen und Unterkunft arbeite.

Da der Bus ($ 50 / € 36 mit Hostelkarte) erst spät am Abend fuhr und ich mittags in Prince George ankam, hatte ich 1,5 Tage um mir alles anzuschauen.

Prince George

Prince George, with a population of 72,000 is the largest city in northern British Columbia, and is the self-proclaimed "Northern Capital" of BC. The town was named in honour of King George III.

At the only hostel in town I booked a bed in a small two bed female dorm for $ 31 (€ 22). It is a nice small place in a nice enough town. One Art Gallery, walking around town, geocaching, hiking along the river, so the usual. I like the city, although there isn´t so much to do and to see. I got myself a Canadian cell phone number that took me a while. Also I got my social insurance number I need if I wanna work. That was easy. You just show your visa and your ID and you will get the number.

I only stayed one night in Prince George. On the next day I took the bus to Valemount ($ 50 / € 36 with hostel card) where I will do helpx (work for bed & board) again. The bus left late at night so I had 1.5 days to look around town.
